51 Japanese Characters

Japan aficionado Peter Machat used his creative talent to produce a website appropriately titled 51JapaneseCharacters.com. It is an insightful collection of figurines showcasing several typical members and cultural phenomena of Japanese society - an easy and playful approach to Japan.

We're likely to encounter many of these characters in our endeavors there. Please pray for us!

interesting Garry. i think some of these are probably made up words, we do it to sometimes- invent japanese words that nobody but foreigners would get. but many of them are real words in use in the japanese language.

i should add to my comment-- i mean they are real words (except obatarian, loose-socks, are english based words) but just not used to label people except maybe by foreigners. like kabuki, noh, pachinko, matsuri, irrashaimase, other cultural things.

dont think you'll ever see anyone wearing samurai gear daily on the street. maybe you'll have to start that trend. unfortunately you DO have to watch out for chikan.
