It's always a treat to watch Japanese movies to continue learning the language. It's even better when we watch with Japanese and learn additional insight into the movie. We'd shown Shall We Dance, the original Japanese version, at movie night back in the States so we were familiar with the story. Tonight we watched it with Okumo-san and our language teacher Tokutake-san. They had never seen it before but were pleasantly surprised to discover that Okumo-san's wife recognized one of the cast as someone she knew from her previous church. Emiko, the girl shown on the right in the above photo, had attended children's school at the church Okumo-san attended twenty years ago. So not only is it fun to know someone from a movie, but also to know that they are a Christian. It's also interesting to note that Okumo-san knows how to dance many of the steps from the show. Sugoi!
